A Couple of Cycling Milestones to Report – 10/16/26

Today had a little serendipity baked into it. Not only did I hit my cycling goal for the year — 6,000 miles — but the ride also marked my 1,000th Biking activity logged on Strava since joining in July of 2021.

Let’s break down the numbers.

Year‑to‑date, I’ve completed 166 rides over 378 hours. That works out to:

  • 36 miles per ride
  • 2.3 hours per ride
  • 15.9 MPH average speed

That’s just a touch slower than last year, but I’ll take it. Fun note: based on elevation gained, I’m just shy of having climbed Mount Everest five times. Not sure I’d recommend doing that on an actual bike.

Looking at the bigger picture — those 1,000 rides over the past five years — I’ve covered 32,099 miles, averaging 32 miles per ride. My longest single ride topped out at 114 miles.

For the bike enthusiasts out there:

  • Nearly 17,000 miles were on my Trek Domane SL6 AXS endurance road bike.
  • Another 14,000 miles came from the Trek FX6 flat‑bar fitness bike.

And almost all of those miles were on greenways. I don’t enjoy playing in traffic with cars.

So how about you — hit any milestones lately? Feel free to leave a comment and share your achievements as well.
