“Clay Target Nation” September Edition

Just a quick post to thank all who have commented on the publishing of my feature article in the September 2021 edition of “Clay Target Nation” covering the topic of “Performance Logging”!

The paper copies will be appearing in mail boxes shortly.

If the article sounds familiar, it was based on a post from this blog from several months ago.  You can find the blog version here

Special thanks to Randy Donovan and Mitch Hines for sharing their performance logging methods with me and agreeing to have them posted for all to see!

If you are an aspiring writer and are wondering what the back story is for getting a story published, here is the condensed version of what transpired!

Perhaps you read my post on Grace Callahan.  If not, you can find it HERE.  Through the power of Grace’s social media presence, the blog post went viral, quickly becoming the most popular one I had written.  I got to thinking that if the story had that much appeal, it might be suitable for a larger audience.  I texted Grace and got her consent to pitch the story to the Editor of “Clay Target Nation”, Hilary Dyer.  I emailed Ms. Dyer, and a few weeks later, got a reply.  She had looked through all my posts, and asked it I would consider modifying my “Performance Logging” post into a feature format.  She provided some guidelines as to content, length, etc.  While I was a little surprised that she favored the performance logging post over the “Grace” post, I decided to give it a go.  A week or so later, I submitted the article, which was accepted a short time later (early April).  As you can see, it took a while for the article to appear in the magazine.

So, there you have it!  The Editor at CTN was very helpful in providing direction and encouragement.

Thanks to all the readers, both of CTN and my blog, for keeping the interest in the mental skills arena!
